New Fees for UK Travelers to Spain, Greece, and France

UK travelers going abroad will soon have to pay to visit 30 countries.
After Brexit, UK passport holders must register with ETIAS to enter most European countries. ETIAS is required for visa-exempt nationals visiting 30 European countries. With a valid ETIAS, travelers can enter these countries for short-term visits, up to 90 days in 180 days.
The ETIAS fee was expected to be 7 euros, but it will cost 20 euros per person. People under 18 or over 70 do not have to pay, so a family of four with two children would pay 40 euros.
The ETIAS scheme has been delayed, and it is now expected to start in late 2026. There will be a grace period, so applying for ETIAS will not be required until 2027.
The ETIAS will be stored electronically with the passport and is required for travel to many countries, including France, Germany, Greece, and Spain. It will also be needed for travel to Cyprus when it joins the Schengen area.
Most ETIAS applications will be approved quickly, but if there is an issue, it may be rejected. Applications can be rejected for reasons like an invalid passport, being a risk, or an incomplete application.
If your ETIAS application is rejected, you can appeal the decision.
