Brits love mint sauce so much they even drizzle it on ice cream

Brits believe mint sauce is not just for Easter and even enjoy the condiment on their ice cream – as Aldi unveils a new bejewelled jar to celebrate the nation's love of mint.
Research carried out by the supermarket revealed that Britain is officially mad for mint, with a whopping 81% declaring their love for the sauce.
And to celebrate the country's love for the condiment, Aldi is giving away a limited-edition minted mini of Bramwells Mint Sauce, bejewelled by luxury designer Maya Grisham.
The bottle is launching as a study found that three-quarters (75%) of Brits define themselves as defiantly pro-mint sauce, with Wrexham (90%) and Bath (89%) named as the UK's biggest mint sauce strongholds.
This is closely followed by Gloucester (88%) and the West Midlands who was named as the UK's biggest mint sauce-loving county at 82%.
And 71% of those surveyed believe it's not just for Easter, with just more than half the population (56%) confirming it's their favourite condiment.
More than one in five (21%) confess to enjoying mint sauce on a spoon straight from the jar.
Among mint sauce devotees, tradition is being thrown out of the window when it comes to what to pair the condiment with.
Fans admit to drizzling it not just over lamb, but chicken (25%), beef (23%) and even pork (14%), proving the sauce is no longer reserved for one meat alone.

People are going beyond just Sunday dinners for their mint sauce consumption, as one in five (20%) admit to dolloping a spoonful on a kebab, and 36% enjoy it with bangers and mash.
The study also discovered that the condiment is a staple ingredient in British kitchens, served with chips (22%), mushy peas (28%), and even ice cream (6%), with six in ten (58%) calling it 'underrated'.
Brits are also making space for mint sauce in drinks, as 20% say they would use mint sauce as a replacement for fresh mint in a Mojito.
The obsession with mint sauce runs deep among the nation's fanatics, with almost a fifth (16%) confessing they've taken their own mint sauce to restaurants to satisfy cravings when it's not on the menu.
More than four in ten (42%) admit to even stockpiling the sauce and keeping spares in the cupboard, with Wales revealed as the UK's mint sauce stockpiling epicentre.
In the capital, 6% of Londoners confess going through a jar of mint sauce each day.
According to Aldi's data, sales of Bramwells Mint Sauce remain high all year round, with sales surpassing 3.4 million jars of the green stuff in the last year - peaking ahead of Easter and Christmas.
Julie Ashfield, Chief Commercial Officer at Aldi UK, said: "It is official, we're a nation that loves mint sauce.

"That's why we have created a limited edition run of hand-bejewelled mini Bramwells Mint Sauce jars, the ultimate accessory to make sure you're never without your mint sauce."
