0:02Today, we're going to learn how to sound
0:04like a native English speaker. You're
0:06going to be practicing your accent, your
0:09pronunciation, and your confidence when
0:13speaking in English. I want you guys to
0:16follow along on the right hand side and
0:19shadow me. This will really help you
0:21sound like a native English speaker.
0:24Without further ado, let's get started.
0:27Am I the a-hole for telling my best
0:30friend if she wasn't always trying to
0:33get with my husband, her boyfriend
0:35wouldn't have left her? By the sounds of
0:38it, in my opinion, probably not. If
0:41someone is trying to get with your
0:42husband, I think you have all the right
0:44to call them out. Especially if it got
0:47to the point where her boyfriend left
0:49her, although we're not sure yet if her
0:51boyfriend left her because she was
0:53always trying to get with OP's husband.
0:55So, we're not exactly sure about that
0:57yet, but we'll read it and then we'll
1:00see. I, 27 female, have been friends
1:03with Kira, 27 female, since we were
1:06little. We were neighbors, went to the
1:09same school, college, etc. She was my
1:12maid of honor when I married Rowan, 28
1:15male, who we went to college with. At
1:18first, Kira had a big crush on him, but
1:20he started liking me. We slowly got
1:24closer and I started liking him, too.
1:27This was after Kira had told me she'd
1:29gotten over it and was dating another
1:32guy. But I still felt really guilty and
1:35didn't want to date him if it would hurt
1:37Kira. I asked her multiple times if she
1:40was okay with it, and she said she was,
1:43so I thought it was fine. Kira's been
1:45with her latest boyfriend, Adam, 27,
1:48male, for a year or so. However, over
1:51the last few months, she's been acting
1:53strange around Rowan. Whenever we'd be
1:56hanging out with the three of us, or
1:58even with Adam there, she'd always find
2:01some way to sit next to Rowan, laugh at
2:04everything he said, etc. I didn't think
2:07anything of it initially because I knew
2:09that's kind of her personality, and she
2:12and Rowan are friends. But then she
2:14started always asking me if Rowan was
2:17there before she came over. And if I
2:20said no, she'd often suddenly say she
2:22couldn't come. Though sometimes she
2:24would say that even if I said he was
2:27there. Rowan also told me about a
2:30comment she made to him once about how
2:32he was so patient for putting up with me
2:35being too tired to do anything with him
2:38now that I was pregnant, which I thought
2:40was weird. Yeah. So, by the sounds of
2:43it, it does seem like her friend wants
2:48boyfriend. I think it I don't think
2:49they're married yet. Her friend wants
2:52her boyfriend by the by the sounds of
2:54it. Just the way she's explaining it and
2:56telling the story and especially from
2:59the very beginning. Initially, she liked
3:02Rowan, but then Rowan did not like her
3:05back. Rowan liked OP. So, Rowan and OP
3:08got together. However, the friend must
3:11still have some feelings for Rowan.
3:13Let's continue. The odd behavior
3:15continued. The most important part of
3:17learning a language and the reason why
3:19everyone learns a language is to be able
3:21to speak the language. These videos help
3:24you with your listening. But how can you
3:26practice your speaking even more? You
3:29need to practice by shadowing. Shadowing
3:31is just repeating after a native English
3:34speaker to practice your pronunciation,
3:36your accent, and your confidence. And
3:38I've started making videos specifically
3:41just to practice those three things. So,

4:09roundabout way of her politely trying to
4:11spare my feelings. the a-hole for giving
4:14all of my co-workers a different reason
4:16for why I have missing fingers so I
4:19wouldn't take legal came down to he
4:21companywide training on his behavior he
4:24chooses not but I was already so cranky
4:28so we're in I did so much shopping in
4:31Mushima the jeans and one hoodie which
4:34let's continue the odd behavior
4:36continued but TBH which uh just stands
4:39for to be honest is very common when
4:42you're texting to write tbh to be
4:45honest. So, but to be honest, the
4:48pregnancy had been keeping me too
4:50exhausted to give it a lot more thought.
4:53And Rowan seemed as friendly with Kira
4:56as always. But two days ago, our mutual
4:58friend Shay threw a dinner party. Me and
5:01Rowan went as did Kira and Adam. Kira
5:04got a bit tipsy and she kept trying to
5:06sit with Rowan and touch him. He excused
5:09himself a few times, but she kept
5:10finding him. I tried to get her off a
5:13few times and I was getting mad because
5:15this was a new line she was crossing.
5:18Yeah. Especially if like if someone is
5:20trying to touch your boyfriend and
5:22you're there and even if you're not
5:24there, that's that is crossing multiple
5:27boundaries and lines. And you know what
5:29they say, a very popular and common
5:31saying in English is drunk words are
5:34sober thoughts. So although she's not
5:36saying anything, I feel like it still
5:38applies. Like drunk actions are sober
5:41desires. She was slurring about how I
5:44stole Rowan from her. Thankfully, Adam
5:47was too busy talking to Shea's husband
5:49to hear this, but he definitely saw
5:52Kira's actions. The next afternoon, I
5:54was at Sha's again with some friends
5:56when Kira showed up. She was crying
5:58about how Adam had broken up with her
6:00that day, saying he didn't think they
6:02were going to work out. Everyone was
6:04consoling her, but I was just kind of
6:06sitting there. I couldn't help but feel
6:08like she brought this upon herself. She
6:11asked me, "Aren't you going to say
6:12something?" So, I said, "Maybe Adam
6:14wouldn't have left you if you weren't
6:16trying to get with Rowan all the time."
6:19Some of our other friends were shocked
6:20to hear this. And got mad at Kira. Some
6:23got angry with me, saying Kira was just
6:25really friendly with everyone, and that
6:27was a horrible accusation to make. Carol
6:30was upset, saying she couldn't believe I
6:32thought that of her, and maybe we really
6:35weren't that close. She left in tears,
6:37and I left soon after, too. Now, I don't
6:39know. Maybe I was wrong. Kira had been
6:42drinking at the dinner party and might
6:44not have meant what she said, and the
6:46other stuff could have been nothing.
6:49Maybe this was too harsh to say to her
6:51after a breakup and we could have talked
6:53privately, not in front of our friends.
6:56So, am I the a-hole? Okay. Personally,
7:01I don't think you're the a-hole because
7:04you kind of just said it as is. Like,
7:06she has been bothering you a lot and you
7:08have kind of like had the feeling that
7:11she was trying to get with your husband
7:13just through her actions and you know
7:15what she was saying. So, I think this
7:17was just kind of like a a culmination of
7:20all that builtup maybe frustration with
7:22her and then you ended up saying that
7:24which could be true, could not be true.
7:26It was probably better to talk to her
7:28privately, I would say. And even before
7:31she broke up with Adam, I believe his
7:33name was. Even though even before Adam
7:36broke up with her, you could have talked
7:37to her and been like, like what's your
7:39deal? Like, am I seeing this right? Are
7:41you trying to get with Rowan? You always
7:43bring him up. You mention him. You talk
7:45about him. You're trying to touch him
7:47all the time. Like, is there some
7:50underlying feelings? And then just see
7:52how she reacts. I know that's probably a
7:54very difficult conversation to have,
7:56especially with a longtime friend, but I
7:58think that could have really helped kind
8:00of understand the situation and
8:02understand where she was coming from and
8:04how she felt. And saying this was kind
8:07of like a little petty on your part, but
8:09then again, I don't think you're the
8:11a-hole for saying it. Rowan is your
8:13boyfriend after all, not hers. Next
8:16story. Am I the a-hole for telling my
8:19friends to get effed? I, 29 female, love
8:23to cook. I cook all kinds of stuff.
8:26Tofu, chicken, soup, sausage, Asian,
8:30Mexican, Italian, etc. I love to make
8:32things from scratch. Two examples. Was
8:35in a tofu kick, so I made my own from
8:37raw soybeans. Was on a chalupa kick, but
8:41they're $7 each. WTF Taco Bell? So, I
8:45made my own fried bread and toppings,
8:47etc. I love to bake Christmas cookies
8:50and make little treats. Anyways, all
8:53this to explain that I take a lot of
8:55pride in making food and I love to feed
8:58people. My two closest friends, 21
9:00female and 25 female, on me every
9:03time I make something that isn't chicken
9:05tenders. Basically, I make a chicken
9:08soup and one tells me it looks like it
9:11has bugs in it. I make a tofu stir fry
9:14and the other tells me it looks like
9:16poop from a butt. They know it bothers
9:18me and still continue to do it. It's not
9:21like I forced them to eat the food. I
9:23did make 21 female tried tofu one time.
9:26Not even the dish posted above, which
9:28I'll admit didn't look how I wanted it
9:31to, even if it was delicious. Today, I
9:34woke up to a Facebook post of them
9:36publicly mocking me about how my food is
9:39only meant for starving orphans. Wa!
9:42That is That is very harsh. So, I told
9:45them both to get effed and now I'm the
9:48dramatic one. So, am I the a-hole? Whoa.
9:50Okay, that really took like a 180 degree
9:54turn. Like that. Wow. So, they made a
9:57public Facebook post mocking your food,
10:00saying it's only meant for starving
10:02orphans. First of all, that is very rude
10:04to the OP that wrote this. Second of
10:06all, who says that about orphans? That
10:10is just that's really in bad taste.
10:12That's Wow. Yeah. No, these these are
10:15not good friends. If I had a friend that
10:17made a public post saying not even my
10:20food, but some random food is only meant
10:22for starving orphans. Whoa. Just cuz
10:24they're orphans and starving doesn't
10:26mean they deserve like bad food. What?
10:30Wow. Okay. You are definitely not the
10:32a-hole. Your friends are kind of crazy.
10:34I would I would literally stop being
10:36friends with these people if this ever
10:37happened to me. Wow. Shocking. Okay,
10:40next story. Am I the a-hole for telling
10:42my friend I don't want to end up like
10:44her after she told me to lower my
10:46standards? I, 22 female, met Rachel, 23
10:50female, 3 years ago in university and we
10:53became friends. For context, I have
10:55never dated before and I am okay with
10:57that. I don't purposefully seek out
10:59relationships and I am comfortable being
11:02by myself. I have a few close friends
11:04and this is enough for me. In contrast,
11:07Rachel has had a lot of boyfriends and
11:10doesn't like to be single. Her words.
11:12She met her husband Max two years ago in
11:15one of the unique classes. And they
11:17quickly began dating. He isn't the most
11:19pleasant guy to be around. In my
11:22opinion, I M O just stands for in my
11:26opinion. Once again, if you're writing
11:28like a proper paper or an email, you're
11:30going to have to write in my opinion the
11:32full word. But she's just like, this is
11:34like texting spelling text when you want
11:36to text quick in my opinion. And they
11:39had quite a few big arguments during the
11:42relationship. He even tried to flirt
11:44with me and I told Rachel about it, but
11:47she dismissed it, saying he was probably
11:49just trying to butter me up, so I helped
11:51him with homework. He has told me sexist
11:54jokes in the past, too. Whenever they
11:56fought, I always told Rachel she
11:58deserves better and to break up with
12:00him. But in the end, they always made
12:02up. This could be annoying, especially
12:04if you're friends with her and you see
12:06that the person your friend is in a
12:09relationship with is not a good person,
12:11but your friend can't see it and you try
12:12to like, you know, tell her tell her
12:15your opinion, but you also don't want to
12:16like get into their business and into
12:18their relationship because that might
12:20affect your friendship with your friend.
12:22So, it's definitely a sticky situation
12:25to be in. He proposed to her after 1
12:27year and they got married 4 months ago.
12:31Wow. I think proposing after 1 year is
12:34extremely fast. Wow. One year. However,
12:38after they moved in together in the flat
12:40that Rachel's parents pay the rent for,
12:43Max became even worse. He never helps
12:46out with the cleaning or cooking.
12:48Doesn't really take Rachel out on dates
12:49anymore. And whenever she tried to talk
12:51to him about it, Max tells her to stop
12:54complaining about wife duties. So, he is
12:58misogynistic. Wow. So, a few days ago,
13:00Rachel asked me if I would like to go on
13:03a date with one of her friends from high
13:05school who is single and is looking for
13:07a relationship. I've never been on a
13:09date before, so I agreed out of
13:11curiosity. We went to a nice restaurant.
13:14The guy never asked me a single question
13:16about myself back. And after I got tired
13:18of coming up with questions about him.
13:21We just sat the rest of the meal in
13:22awkward silence. We split the bill and
13:25after he walked me to the subway
13:26station, he tried to kiss me. I declined
13:29as politely as I could and went home.
13:31The next day, I met up with Rachel.
13:33Apparently, she's already heard about
13:35how the date went from her friend. She
13:38asked me why I rejected him. I told her
13:40the reason I mentioned before and that I
13:42didn't really like the guy. Then she
13:44rolled her eyes and said that I need to
13:46lower my standards because I'm honestly
13:48not that attractive. That I blew maybe
13:50my only chance to date and if I continue
13:52like that, I'll end up forever alone.
13:54Even though she knows I'm fine without a
13:56relationship. Also, I'm not insecure
13:59about my appearance, but hearing my
14:01friends say that about me hurt. I got
14:04angry and said, "Better to be forever
14:06alone than end up like you with a
14:09husband that doesn't respect me. Facts."
14:11She started crying and said that I'm
14:13being rude when she's just trying to
14:15look out for me and then left. We
14:18haven't texted or spoken since.
14:20Honestly, I'm not sure if I want to
14:22salvage this friendship after finding
14:24out this is how Rachel felt about me all
14:27this time. However, I feel guilty for
14:29saying this to her when I knew it was a
14:32sore spot and also for kind of blaming
14:34her for the fact that her husband is
14:36awful. So, am I the a-hole in this
14:39situation? I think you are the a-hole,
14:42but not for saying that to her. I think
14:45she definitely needs to face the fact
14:46that her husband's not really a good
14:49person. But I feel like you should have
14:52tried harder earlier on in the
14:54relationship. That's why I think you
14:56were the a-hole. You could have tried to
14:58open up her eyes to how the rest of her
15:01life with this person was going to be,
15:03but instead you just blamed her after
15:05your feelings got hurt, which I kind of
15:07think is an a-hole move to just snap
15:09back after someone insulted you. Yeah,
15:11it's definitely fair game. They insulted
15:13you, so you insult them. Fair enough.
15:15But if it was your friend, you should
15:16have tried harder earlier on to kind of
15:18like open up her eyes to how her current
15:21husband is before she married him. So,
15:24you're not the a-hole for saying that,
15:26but you are the a-hole for not helping
15:27out your friend. In my opinion. In my
15:29opinion. If I had a friend and I was in
15:31a relationship like this, I would want
15:33them to do their best to help me, you
15:36know, realize how they really are before
15:39I marry them, before I marry them. But,
15:42uh, yeah, that's just my opinion. As
15:44always guys, I want you to take out your
15:45phone, open up your camera, and record
15:48yourself talking about what you learned
15:50today, any new words you learned, and
15:52also summarize this whole video. If you
