In spite of the apparent issue, the plane successfully completed its nearly 10-hour flight and landed without incident in London, according to People. There were no reports of injuries.
This incident draws renewed scrutiny to occurrences involving aircraft landing gear.
Earlier this month, a United Airlines flight lost a front wheel during a rough landing in Orlando, leading to a temporary halt in operations at the airport before resuming.
Flight-tracking information indicated that the British Airways flight left Las Vegas at approximately 8:44 p.m. local time and reached Heathrow around 2:30 p.m. in the U.K.
The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration has confirmed it is looking into the Las Vegas incident, noting that the aircraft lost a tire during takeoff but was able to proceed to its destination safely.
British Airways emphasized that safety is their foremost concern and that they are fully cooperating with the investigation.
