TikToker fined for riding jet ski at Nha Trang beach where it is banned

The man said he took his newly bought jet ski, which cost VND400 million ($15,200), to a public beach in Nha Trang Ward around 11 p.m. on March 27. He claimed he did not see any signs saying jet skis were not allowed and the beach was empty, so he rode it four times to test the engine.
He recorded a 54-second video of his ride and posted it on his TikTok account, 'Bap Kimochi'. The video got over 500,000 views before he removed it and apologized, according to Tuoi Tre.
Dam Hai Van, the Director of the Nha Trang Bay Management Board, said jet skis and parasailing have been banned at all public beaches in Nha Trang for more than 10 years. These activities are only allowed in certain areas and islands, far from where people swim.
The man admitted that his jet ski was not registered and he did not have the required certificate to ride it. He told the police, 'I know I broke the law for riding on inland waterways'.
Nha Trang, a popular tourist spot in Vietnam, has had several drowning incidents at its beaches recently. The authorities have warned visitors to follow safety rules, especially during bad weather.
In Vietnam, people who want to ride jet skis for fun need a business license, and their jet ski must have safety certificates and be registered.
The people riding jet skis must have professional certificates and stay in areas allowed by the state. Jet skis are not allowed in areas that are restricted, protected for marine life, or where people swim.
