Da Nang to Move Graves for Railway

Over 67,000 graves were already part of a plan, and 327,000 more were found in a new survey.
There are many graves in Da Nang's eastern area, with 256 cemeteries and 1.4 million graves. Most are near homes and industrial areas. This is because homes were built around old burial grounds.
Graves near homes can pollute water and harm health, and make it hard to plan the city.
The government wants to move the graves because of a new high-speed railway. The railway will be over 116 km long and need a lot of land.
The government wants to start building the railway by December 2026.
After moving the graves, Da Nang wants to build green and smart coastal areas.
The city plans to build five new cemeteries to move the graves to.
The city will close small cemeteries and move graves by 2030.
The government will not allow new burials outside of designated areas.
