A Quiet European Island with Charming Fishing Villages

Summer is coming, and many Brits are planning their sunny holidays. Greece has sun and sea, but it has many islands to choose from. This can be confusing.
A yacht company looked at search data and reviews to find Greece's hidden gems where you can avoid crowds.
One of these islands is Meganisi, a calm and real Greek place with nice fishing villages and big caves.
The island has a very interesting history to learn about.
One of the best things to see is Papanikolis cave, a very big sea cave in Greece.
This cave was used to hide submarines in World War II and is 120 metres long and 60 metres wide.
Visitors can take a boat tour and swim in the clear water inside the cave.
There's a secret beach you can swim to. A reviewer said, 'You can't understand how big it is until you see it, then you feel small.'
The cave has a long and interesting history.
On land, Meganisi has a lot to discover and is only 20 square kilometres big.
The island is often overlooked for its bigger neighbour, so it's not too crowded.
Vathi, the main port, is a nice old fishing village with two churches to bless the boats.
There are some restaurants by the water serving fresh seafood.
The smaller port, Spilia, is also nice with fewer restaurants but just as pretty.
A short walk around the bay takes you to a long sandy beach with snack bars.
