My Kids' First Time at Butlin's: A Fun Experience

I woke up at 5am to my excited kids screaming 'BUTLIN'S!!!!!!'. I remembered doing the same thing to my parents when I was a child. My kids were very excited for our family holiday. They had been looking forward to it for a long time. I was excited too. I had told them about the fun things we would do at Butlin's. They couldn't wait to start their adventure. They were full of energy and enthusiasm.
Butlin's was a big part of my childhood. I have happy memories of winning a dancing competition and getting a trophy from a Red Coat. I wore pink wellington boots and felt like a superstar.
I told my kids about the fun things we would do at Butlin's. They were excited about the rollercoasters, ice creams, discos, and go-karting. They couldn't wait to start their adventure.
Butlin's is a great place for a cheap and cheerful weekend away. We packed our bags and headed to the resort. The kids were screaming with excitement. They couldn't wait to get started.
Oscar and Nathaniel were ready for their Butlin's adventure.
There was a lot of jumping and excitement, especially at the Skypark.
Butlin's is a traditional holiday for many UK families. It offers free fairground rides, great pools, and amazing shows. It's a fun place for kids and adults.
I wondered how different my kids' experience would be from mine. I was excited to find out.
The resort has changed a lot since I was a child. There are no more rickety chalets and donkeys. There is free WiFi, a QR code for drinks, and a pour-your-own-pint machine.
We chose the all-inclusive drinks package and stayed in the new Maple Lodges. We also got Early Access VIP to the shows, which was very useful.
When we arrived, we saw the magical fairground and the iconic Skyline Pavillion. We went to the wrong entrance, but were directed to our lodge.
Nathaniel loved the Skypark and didn't want to leave.
The Skypark has many fun activities, including sky-high ones.
Our lodge was clean, quiet, and had a dishwasher. The kids were excited about their rooms. The lodge was close to the park, but far enough for a good night's sleep. We were all happy with our accommodation.
The kids loved the ice cream and were excited to choose their flavors.
Oscar was thrilled to be able to choose his own ice cream.
We opted for the Premium Dining package, which was a great choice. The food was delicious and there were many options. The kids loved the ice cream station.
The modern touches at Butlin's were impressive. The live cooking station and the chef's omelette were highlights. We also enjoyed the Prosecco with our meal.
A big difference from my childhood was the Prosecco with our buffet.
The biggest difference was the shows. They were amazing and the kids loved them.
Nathaniel and Oscar loved The Masked Singer and Maximum Pro Wrestling shows. They were transfixed by the performances. I didn't want to spoil the shows for anyone, so I won't say more.
Having early access to the shows was very helpful. We could get good seats and avoid the queues. The automatic pint-pouring machine was also a great idea.
The shows were a huge change from my childhood. They were much more impressive and fun.
The disco, now called Night With The Reds, was a lot of fun. The Red Coats were great entertainers and the kids loved them. The music was still the same, but with some new additions.
However, with any holiday, there are some downsides. The queues can be a problem and the arcade can be tempting for kids. Be prepared for some upset children if they can't do certain activities.
Booking early is essential for activities like bowling. I advise booking on your way to breakfast to avoid disappointment.
The go-karting was a no-go for our kids. They were very upset when they couldn't do it.
The soft play was disappointing, but the Skypark was amazing. The kids could have spent hours there. The state-of-the-art playground had a huge slide, walkways, and mini trampolines.
We didn't get to use the swimming pool due to the long queues. I recommend buying vouchers for the paid fairground rides to avoid fumbling with cash.
The Red Coats were still as magical as ever. They were super-friendly, entertaining, and helpful. The kids loved them and wanted to become Red Coats or pro wrestlers.
When I asked my kids to sum up their stay, Oscar said 'fun' and Nathaniel said 'when can we go again?'. It was a great experience for all of us.
