0:00What used to feel like a you know
0:03barebones efficient fast search engine
0:07has now turned into a major funnel uh
0:11that's been further exaggerated by the
0:14use of the AI overviews which is powered
0:17by Gemini Gemini AI. So what exactly is
0:21going on with Google ad? Is there a
0:24future for SEO in this? And
0:27interestingly, if you want the TLDDR of
0:30this, I would say that there is a future
0:31for SEO and there is a certainly a
0:34future for businesses that invest in
0:36SEO. Yes, you will not see results right
0:39away. And also yes SEO is going to
0:41become increasingly more expensive but
0:44not as expensive as Google ads and the
0:47way they are increasing the price of
0:49their advertising while lowering its
0:52efficiency. So I'll go through this and
0:55just go through this step by step so
0:57that you know you know whether you are
0:59someone who's a regular person who
1:00searches the internet looking for stuff
1:02or if you're someone who's doing SEO if
1:05Google is the right search and for you
1:07right start with Google's AI overviews
1:10which was meant to be a way to provide
1:13quick answers to questions or summaries
1:16to often short questions. So if you
1:18would ask it you know what is a cat it
1:21could provide you with that answer uh
1:24which will satisfy 95% of most people
1:27except for if you were a biology
1:29students and needed more information
1:31than that but for most people that would
1:34satisfy uh the query the problem with
1:37the shortened snapping answer even today
1:39is that it is not accurate and what's
1:41happening is for instance if you search
1:43for and I put the screenshot over here
1:46if you search for how to clean a cast
1:48iron skillet without ruining it. You
1:51know, you would expect to see specific
1:53instructions on how to do that, which in
1:56a way they are, but it's kind of
1:58contradictory. So, if you look at this
2:01and if you read this, it said it says
2:03remove food particles and it says warm
2:07water rinse and then it says scrub
2:09lightly and then rinse and dry. So you
2:13would do that for just about any type of
2:18utensil that you're trying to clean. So
2:20this is not, you know, it's not really
2:24great and it's not really spec. It's not
2:27really for people who are really trying
2:29to clean their iron skillet without
2:32ruining it. Um, and then you, it says
2:35over here, you want to avoid cars
2:37scrubbing, rinse with soapy water, use
2:40any salt scrub, and even rust with a
2:42potato and baking soda. Again, it's not
2:46really helpful, and if you try doing
2:48this, it might probably ruin your
2:50skillet. So, not only is is it going to
2:53ruin it, but it's also contradictory.
2:55So, first warning against soap. So it
2:57says don't use so but then it also pulls
3:00out most of it information from Reddit
3:02threads like Kora posts and some YouTube
3:05videos uh all of which have
3:07contradictory information. So this kind
3:10of AI summary may give off the illusion
3:13that it's a it's an authoritative source
3:16it's an authority and it's pulling from
3:18all these great sources when in fact
3:20it's not. So if you look at the if you
3:23look at Reddit corora right now, it's
3:25like one of the most spam places on the
3:28internet. So anyone with a anyone can
3:32create a Reddit account. It's free.
3:34Anyone can create a core account. It's
3:36free. Can they can line up 500 questions
3:39using AI and they can answer those 500
3:42questions using AI and it's pretty very
3:46like. So in a nutshell, it's very easy
3:47to spam these system. It's not very
3:49hard. And then when Google crawls them,
3:51Google is just feeding off spam and
3:54misinformation. And then you have the
3:56other problem where search is
3:58prioritizing advertising. But the
4:00experience of using Google today is more
4:02like as I mentioned earlier like a large
4:05funnel. It's a billboard gallery. So
4:08when you search for something, you would
4:09see AI overviews. Then you will see a
4:12drop-down list of various products that
4:15are available. And then you will see
4:17depending on the search on the right you
4:19will see some advertising. Then you will
4:21see some uh images of products. Then you
4:24will see uh some
4:27uh people who ask again depending on the
4:30query below that uh if it's a local
4:33query you'll also see a map pack. So
4:35you'd have to scroll really down to find
4:38the results. And even when you get to
4:40the results it's mostly just uh googly
4:44goo. So it's low
4:46quality really people that invested a
4:48lot of money are lowquality uh content
4:51AI generated content and they have
4:53multiple websites that are now ranking
4:56underneath all of those
4:58searches. So usually when you go down
5:01you will see you know the unpaid
5:03content. So uh on mobiles that would
5:06often be page number two. So you'd have
5:08to go to page number two on Google
5:10search to figure out okay what you're
5:12looking for and find out what you're
5:13looking for. But what used to feel like
5:17a tool is now you know it's more of a
5:20hassle and honestly as a search engines
5:23are doing a better job. So you know if
5:25you want to AI search you are probably
5:28better off using
5:31um Perplexity uh using uh Chat GPT or
5:36just going to the J Gemini AI and just
5:39using that you're better off with that.
5:41And then you have the rise of clickbait
5:44headlines and these are probably the
5:47worst. Um, and this is not only a
5:50problem with Google search, and Google
5:53search is AI, but this is a problem with
5:56just about every AI system out there, is
5:59that it's not able to tell the
6:01difference between real content at AI
6:05generated lowquality content or
6:07misinformation content. And so for
6:10instance, if you do a search for Fast
6:1211, which is the upcoming Fast and
6:14Furious movie, um you will see loads of
6:17AI generated trailers that Google that
6:19Google is ranking number one. And uh a
6:23lot of these have um you know, they have
6:27these really clickbait uh titles like
6:30new trailer featuring Vin Diesel and
6:32Cody Walker. I think that's Cody Walker,
6:34that's Paul Walker's son. So it's
6:36featuring these guys and then also the
6:39the other headline is is it doomed? Uh
6:42so these types of things are really
6:44ranking and Google doesn't tell you or
6:46Gemini AI AI Gemini AI doesn't really
6:50tell you that you know these are little
6:52these are you know the these can be
6:55trusted. Now in in actuality as I'm
6:58making this video fast 11 hasn't even
7:00started shooting so there can't be a
7:03trailer. The trailers are usually
7:05towards the end of the editing process.
7:07Uh, and maybe it's like three months out
7:10from release that you start seeing the
7:12first teasers, but you it's way off.
7:14They even started shooting this. So, at
7:16least if you see the the next Fast 11 is
7:19going to probably be in uh 2027, 2028.
7:24So, again, this is way off, but if you
7:27were just an ordinary regular person,
7:28you would think that, you know, these
7:30are real trailers. If you're trying to
7:32do a search and you're trying to find
7:34like real information, maybe you're
7:36trying to write a paper, maybe you're
7:37trying to do some research for a news
7:39story or trying to write a really great
7:41article, you have all of these
7:43misleading
7:45metadescriptions. And usually now for
7:48many of the searches, Google is
7:50rewriting the metad descriptions for
7:52websites. So while I run a lot of
7:54websites and I write a lot of metad
7:56descriptions myself, I see that there's
7:58really very little to it because Google
8:01just rewrites stuff. And so the problem
8:04with that is that it's more
8:05misinformation and it's low more low
8:08quality information because AI is
8:09rewriting those. So if you if you take a
8:11look at the search here, it says I did a
8:13search for fastest land animal and it
8:16says the cheetah is the fastest land
8:18animal which is correct. But then
8:19there's one claim that says that cheetah
8:21run at 60 miles per hour. Then there's
8:24the other claim that cheetah run at 70 m
8:2675 miles per hour. Both of which are
8:29totally incorrect. Uh and if you
8:32actually click on the
8:34article, you know, the there uh the top
8:37ranking one is a Reddit article and as a
8:39joke someone posted that the fastest
8:42land animal is a cow that's been dropped
8:45from 35,000 ft. So that is meant to be a
8:48joke, but that's also there as part of
8:50the answer. And so you would think, you
8:54know, that at least Google Google's AI
8:57would rewrite the metad description and
8:59so that it makes sense. But in this
9:01case, it really can't make sense of
9:03anything on Reddit. So it just offers
9:06things as is, which again lowers the
9:09quality of Google search. And finally,
9:12if you try to like go on a vacation and
9:14you like, okay, you know what? thought
9:16I'm going to search for a vacation on
9:17Google. So I tried doing this. So I did
9:20a search for Italy vacation ideas and
9:24then my my thought process was if I if I
9:27search for that I would see maybe
9:30recommendations for hotels,
9:32recommendations for places to eat, you
9:34know, flight information and stuff like
9:36that. But what I actually got was I got
9:38bombarded by vacation packages, uh,
9:42rigid itineraries and all of these were
9:45being sold by major companies and they
9:47were highly SEO, lots and lots of
9:49backlinks, lots and lots of Facebook
9:52links, lots of lots of uh posts and fake
9:55reviews. And you know, the first there's
9:58no real firstirhand advice. There was
10:00nothing really that I was looking for
10:02until I went to page number three.
10:04That's why I saw reviews for various
10:07places uh you know travel information uh
10:11what to watch out for when you when
10:13you're going to Italy uh you know what
10:15to pack with you but the AI overviews
10:18are the first page of answers or the
10:22first page of results was of absolutely
10:24no use. So the alternative here is
10:27either you do a Google search and just
10:29click on page two and go and start your
10:33uh search from there or you know you
10:36just uh I think there's a plugin in
10:38Google Chrome where you you can clean up
10:40Google search um I'm not sure what the
10:43what the plug-in is called but you can
10:46uh at Chrome you can just clean up all
10:48the ads and you can clean up uh AI
10:51overview at least. I just see the core
10:55SER. Uh but at the end of the day, not
10:58many people are going to do that which
10:59lowers the quality of Google SER. So
11:02what should be your approach as a
11:04business owner who's trying to get lots
11:06of traffic? Well, the one thing you
11:07should do is not rely on Google search.
11:10Um you should diversify. So you know why
11:13not do also Bing search? Why not
11:14optimize for Yahoo Doug Go? Um and also
11:19you know why not uh optimize for highly
11:23specified specialized keywords that most
11:26people who are only interested in buying
11:28your service or interested in buying
11:30your product are going to search for.
11:32And so those highly specialized keywords
11:34is not really worth Google's time. So
11:37you're not going to see AI overviews. In
11:39fact, I am seeing less of Google's AI
11:42overviews in the past 3 4 months than I
11:45have ever before. So queries that I've
11:47seen AIO reviews from before, I'm no
11:50longer seeing it. So all the hype
11:52surrounding that it's going to take over
11:54SEO. I don't think there is much to it.
11:57I think a lot of generalized queries
11:59may, you know, be something that AI or
12:02views answers, but at the end of the
12:03day, Google does understand that it's
12:06not great for usability. Let me know in
12:09the comments below what you think about
12:10this. Like and subscribe, and I will see
12:13you guys in the next video. Happy
12:15ranking.
