0:08It is prepared.
0:09I am prepared.
0:10Okay.
0:11Hi, everybody.
0:12Welcome back to Top Words.
0:13My name is Alisha.
0:14Today, we're going to be talking about the top 10 phrases you'll need for a date.
0:19Wahoo!
0:20Let's go.
0:21“Would you like to go out to dinner with me?”
0:25The first phrase is "Would you like to go out to dinner with me?"
0:28This is a pretty typical invitation, I think.
0:30You can use, "Would you go out for lunch with me?" is okay too.
0:33Or, "Would you like to get a coffee with me?" as well.
0:36If you invite someone out for breakfast, it's a little weird.
0:38I don't think I would say it to someone like, I'm in the apartment, “would you like to
0:44go out for breakfast sometime?"
0:46It's just not really something you would say.
0:49Would you like to go out to dinner with me?
0:51Sure.
0:52Sounds great.
0:53“Are you free this weekend?”
0:54“Are you free this weekend?”
0:56Are you free?
0:57"Free" means "is your schedule free?
1:00Do you have an open schedule this weekend?"
1:03Very nice, very casual, as well.
1:05“Are you free this weekend?”
1:07“Yeah, I've got some time.
1:08What's up?”
1:09“Would you like to hang out with me?”
1:12The next phrase is "Would you like to hang out with me?"
1:14That sounds a little too formal to me.
1:16If you were me, I would just say, "Do you want to hang out?
1:19Do you want to get together?"
1:20That's a little bit more natural.
1:22Do you want to hang out this weekend?
1:23Yes, sure.
1:24Let's catch a movie.
1:26“You're so cute.”
1:28I'm going to preface this by saying, "I don't say this."
1:31The next phrase is "You're so cute."
1:33I never say this.
1:35Maybe, I'm just cold.
1:38It's typically said with downward intonation.
1:41People say, "You're so cute.
1:43You're so cute."
1:44Kind of going down like that.
1:45You can also use this as a compliment.
1:48Parents, will say this, or grandparents will say this to children in the family.
1:54“You're so cute.”
1:55“Thank you.”
1:56I suppose that's what you say.
1:59“You look great.”
2:01Ah!
2:02Next one is a much better compliment, I think, much more sincere.
2:04It is, "You look great."
2:07Maybe you're going out for dinner or something nice.
2:10Your partner looks really nice, you can say, "You look great."
2:13“Oh, thank you.”
2:15“I had a great time.”
2:17The next one is "I had a great time."
2:21This is an expression you use after your date.
2:25You go out for dinner, you spend some time together, and you have fun, you can say "I
2:29had a great time."
2:32The interaction might be, "Thanks so much for tonight.
2:35I had a great time."
2:36“Me too.
2:37Let's get together again soon.”
2:38“I'll call you.”
2:41Next expression is "I'll call you."
2:43Again, probably, used after the date to show how you want to keep in touch later.
2:50One person might say, "I'll call you."
2:52“Sounds good.”
2:53“I'll drive you home.”
2:56The next one, again, used at the end of the date, after the date has finished.
3:00“I'll drive you home.”
3:02Maybe you live someplace where cars are normal or you drive for your dates, you can say,
3:09"I'll drive you home," meaning, "I'll take you home in my car."
3:15The situation may be, "I'll drive you home."
3:17“Okay. Thanks very much.”
3:19I don't know why I keep looking.
3:21My date is very tall, super tall, like eight feet.
3:24Ok.
3:25“Can I see you again?”
3:27Okay, the next expression, again, after the date or maybe even a day or two after the
3:32date.
3:33You could say, "Can I see you again," or, "I want to see you again," or, "Let's get
3:36together again," meaning you had a nice time, you want to see that person again.
3:41So, you can say, "Can I see you again?"
3:43“Sure, that would be great.”
3:45“Shall we go somewhere else?”
3:48The next one, maybe you've gone for a dinner, for example, with someone and you want to
3:54suggest a different location, like "Let's go for a drink after dinner."
3:58You can say, "Shall we go somewhere else?"
4:00This says, "Shall we go somewhere else?"
4:02I would say, "Do you want to go somewhere else?"
4:04In this situation, I say, "Shall we go somewhere else?"
4:07“I don't think so.
4:08I'm kind of tired.”
4:09Aw.
4:10“Oh, no.”
4:13Alright.
4:14Those are 10 expressions that you can use for a date.
4:17Give them a try the next time you have a chance, whenever that may be.
4:21Good luck.
