EasyJet Flights: Passengers Worried About Missing Flights Due to Long Queues

EasyJet Holidays responded to concerns about long queues at European airports. The EU's new Entry/Exit System requires non-EU travelers to register biometric data, causing long waits. This system is being implemented across Europe.
The new digital border system started on October 12, 2025. It will be fully operational in the Schengen Area by April 10, 2026. A statement on Gov.uk says that EES may take extra time to complete.
The Schengen area includes many countries like Austria, Belgium, and France. Airports in these countries are facing long border check queues due to the new system.
Ireland and Cyprus are not part of the Schengen area, so EES is not required. Gov.uk says that you may be asked to provide your fingerprint or photo when exiting the Schengen area. The checks may take longer than before.
People are sharing concerns on social media about missing flights due to long passport control queues. One woman, Jenny, shared her worries about not getting through border control on time for her flight.
Jenny said she is worried that she won't have enough time to get through the airport with her child. She asked EasyJet if this would be okay.
EasyJet replied that their transport providers are local experts who will calculate the transfer pick-up time to ensure a stress-free journey. They said they will help if Jenny needs to make her own way to the airport.
Jenny asked if EasyJet would cover expenses and book an alternate flight if she misses her flight. The spokesperson said yes, their support teams will assist with rescue flights if required.
Many airports are facing long queues due to the new system.
Jenny responded that there are posts about long queues for border control at Palma being 2-3 hours long. She thinks it's crazy that EasyJet is not arranging earlier transfers for families.
The EasyJet spokesperson updated Jenny with guidance on 'missed flights'. They said they will work with their teams to address the issue if flights are missed.
The spokesperson added that if Jenny wants to make her own way to the airport, they will update their suppliers. However, they cannot assist with adjusting the pick-up time.
Palma Airport's website says that the EES is designed to save time and improve border security. It automates passport checks and helps detect fraudulent documents.
If passengers are late to their boarding gate, they should tell their airline using their app, email, or phone. They can also ask airport staff for assistance.
Passengers are advised to arrive at the airport early to handle unexpected delays. A spokesperson for ABTA says to go straight to passport control after check-in and security.
ABTA advises passengers to follow their transport provider's advice on arrival times. They should arrive at the airport at least two hours before their flight and check with their airline and airport.
