Vietnam Allocates Substantial Funds to Regulate Fuel Costs

To mitigate the impact of rising fuel costs on the domestic market, a significant financial allocation has been approved, stemming from a proposal by the Ministry of Finance aimed at maintaining price stability.

Funds for this initiative will be drawn from the surplus in the central budget from 2025, with the Ministry of Industry and Trade designated as the recipient to oversee its distribution.

The Prime Minister has emphasized the importance of data accuracy and regulatory compliance to the Ministries of Finance and Industry and Trade, also highlighting the need for enhanced monitoring to prevent any misuse of funds, corruption, or inefficiency.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade has been entrusted with the responsibility of managing the allocated funds, ensuring their use aligns with established guidelines, and devising strategies for fuel price management.

A key condition of this allocation is that the advance must be repaid to the state budget within a year of its disbursement, contingent upon the stabilization of market conditions, underscoring the temporary nature of this financial support.

This directive is set to come into effect immediately, marking a proactive step by the government to address the volatility in fuel prices and its potential impact on the economy and consumers.
