Malaysian Billionaire's Daughter Cut Inheritance Due to Betrayal

Siew Kim left a large estate worth RM1.6 billion. Her daughters, Chan T'Shiao Li and Kimberly Chan T'Shiao Miin, received RM900,000 and RM100,000 respectively.

The sisters found an older will that gave them RM10 million each. They also found another will that reduced the amount. This led them to file a lawsuit against the will.

Lawyer Low Beng Choo was asked why Siew Kim reduced the bequests. She prepared the two wills from April 2022.

Siew Kim said her daughter and son-in-law were stealing from the companies they worked with. She felt very betrayed and upset.

Siew Kim mentioned two incidents with Kimberly. One was about allegations Kimberly made about her mother's mental state. The other was an argument over her husband's life support.

Low said Siew Kim did not want to leave anything to her daughters at first. But she later left them reduced amounts after discussing it.

The daughters' bequests were discussed again when the third will was prepared. Low is one of the defendants in the lawsuit.

Low told the court that she asked Siew Kim if she wanted to change the cash bequests. Siew Kim said no and that her daughters were lucky to get anything.

Siew Kim gave a strong response: 'No change. They don't deserve it. They are lucky that I am providing some.'

Low stated that Siew Kim was of sound mind when signing all three wills. She remained alert and lucid.

Low described Siew Kim as feisty and knowing what she wanted. She was always like that in their years of knowing each other.

Low said she did not know Siew Kim was prescribed morphine when she signed the wills.

The plaintiffs' lawyer objected to Low's testimony, saying it was hearsay. The trial will continue on July 27.

The billionaire heiress's estate is being disputed.

Siew Kim was the youngest daughter of Lim Goh Tong, who founded the Genting business empire.

Lim Goh Tong was ranked Malaysia's third-richest man when he passed away in 2007.

Siew Kim died of cancer at 73. She was survived by a son and three daughters.

The son, Marcus, got 30% of her estate and some properties. He also got control of her safe deposit boxes.

The eldest daughter, Cressa, received RM10 million and a property. Her daughter got a monthly allowance of RM50,000.

70% of the estate went to the Dikim Foundation, a charity founded by Siew Kim and her husband.

Low is the sole trustee of the foundation. She said she does not benefit from it.

Low told the court that the 70% allocation to the foundation was in all three wills. She did not draft the 2021 version.

Low said she did not receive any gifts for preparing the wills. She only got the legal fees for her services.

The plaintiffs think the multiple wills with different allocations are suspicious. They do not reflect their mother's true intentions.

Low denied any involvement in the suspicious circumstances. She said the final will reflects Siew Kim's wishes.

The lawsuit also names the plaintiffs' brother Marcus and the estate's executors as defendants.
