Australia to Keep Helping Motorists with Petrol Prices

Australia relies on imported fuel and cut petrol taxes in March due to global oil shipment problems.

These temporary measures were set to end this month but will now continue into July.

Prime Minister Albanese said, 'We know people are still under pressure,' in a statement.

He also said, 'We will keep helping Australians by finding more fuel from our partners.'

The government is extending support as it faces a challenge from the far-right One Nation party in opinion polls.

The US and Iran recently signed a deal to end their conflict, which started on February 28, and involves multiple steps: the deal aims to reduce tensions, the US and Iran will work together, the international community supports the agreement, and the goal is to achieve lasting peace.

Albanese said Australia welcomes the reduction in tensions, but reopening the Strait of Hormuz will take time.

He explained, 'There are sea mines, and it's unclear when normal trade will resume,' and also mentioned that the situation is being closely monitored.
