Comedian Joe Wilkinson's New Train-Based Interview Series

Comedian Joe Wilkinson is set to launch a new podcast series where he travels by train and chats with famous guests, including acclaimed actor Michael Sheen.

The Celebrity Traitors star will be hosting a vodcast series on Channel 4's YouTube channel, where he interviews celebrities while riding the rails.

Wilkinson expressed his excitement about the project, stating that he has a genuine passion for trains and enjoys conversing with people, making this show a perfect fit for him.

The first episode of the five-part series, called Train-ing It with Joe Wilkinson, features Michael Sheen, and Wilkinson will also be joined by fellow comedian Nick Mohammed in another episode.

Joe Wilkinson gained popularity after appearing on Celebrity Traitors, a show where he was eventually eliminated, much to his disappointment.

For his new series, Wilkinson met with Michael Sheen at London's Waterloo station, and they traveled to Kingston in south London, where Sheen was scheduled to perform at the Rose Theatre.

During their train journey, Sheen shared with Wilkinson that his desire to become an actor was solidified during a train ride back from visiting Warwick University, after which he decided to pursue drama school instead of university.

Sheen's decision to become an actor was supported by his parents, but since it was too late to apply for that year, he stayed in Port Talbot and worked at a drive-through burger bar, an experience that made him more determined to pursue his acting career.

However, Sheen also confessed that as he has grown older, the pressures of performing have increased, and he finds it more challenging to remember lines, making the first two hours after a play's finale the most enjoyable part of his day.

Wilkinson will also be joined by Nick Mohammed, a fellow comedian and actor, in one of the episodes of his new vodcast series.

Wilkinson, who also works as a stand-up comedian, shared that he loves his job but finds it extremely challenging, and the only way he can cope is by having a carefree attitude towards his audience.

Wilkinson believes that the key to successful comedy is making it look effortless, and if the audience notices how hard he is working, then he is not doing his job correctly.

After parting ways with Sheen at Kingston station, Wilkinson couldn't help but express his admiration for the actor, who even signed his autograph book with a heartfelt message.

According to Stephen Parnell, Digital Commissioning Executive at Channel 4, this new series is not just a chat show on a train, but rather an opportunity for Wilkinson to combine his love of rail travel with his curiosity about the people he admires.

The series, Train-ing It with Joe Wilkinson, is set to premiere on Channel 4's YouTube channel on March 27, offering a unique blend of travel, conversation, and humor.
