Family Gets Sick and Shocked on 3,000 Pound Trip to Egypt

The resort was under construction.

A family's holiday became a nightmare when they arrived at their hotel, which was like a construction site. Scott Edward, 36, his wife Katie, and their two kids, Freddy and Alexandra, got food poisoning and an electric shock during their break.

Scott said, 'No one enjoyed it. It caused us a lot of stress and financial problems. We were all very ill, which made the kids scared of traveling.'

The Edward family flew to Egypt and stayed at a resort and aqua park in Hurghada. After 18 hours of travel, they arrived at the hotel.

The trip started badly when they checked into a dirty room with no WiFi. They were moved to another room, but that night, they heard loud children's music outside because the entertainment stage was being fixed.

The rooms were dirty and broken, with feces and urine around the toilet. The air conditioning was full of mold and dust, causing them to have bad coughs.

Luckily, one of the kids' shoes protected her foot from broken glass.

The safe in the room was a problem.

Scott claimed the holiday cost the family over 3,000 pounds, which he demanded a full refund for. He discussed the issues with the hotel and then approached Loveholidays, the company they booked the trip through.

Loveholidays initially offered a refund of just 104 pounds but has now confirmed they will refund the full cost of the holiday.

The bathroom was in bad condition.

Loveholidays said they could have helped if the family had contacted them while abroad. A spokesperson said, 'We're very sorry that Mr. Edward's experience at the hotel in Egypt fell short of our usual high standards.'

Loveholidays said they offer 24/7 assistance to customers, but Mr. Edward did not contact them until seven weeks after he returned home.

The state of the facilities was very bad.

Loveholidays said they are working closely with their dispute providers to expedite the refund process and ensure Mr. Edward receives a full refund as quickly as possible.

They have also escalated the specific issues raised with the accommodation provider to ensure they are addressed.

The family claims they have been left scarred by the experience.

Loveholidays confirmed that Mr. Edward will receive a full refund for his holiday, including the cost of flights and transfers.
