I visited a seaside town in the UK that's getting a £25 million boost

Seaside towns often get a bad reputation. They are not always pretty and lack investment.

Seaside towns are magical for kids. They have sand, arcade machines, and ice cream.

I visited Lowestoft in Suffolk. It was named one of the worst seaside towns in the UK in 2021. But it's getting £25 million to improve.

The town has a classic seaside feel.

We ate at Jo Jo's Kitchen, a local restaurant with American food. We had pancakes and huevos rancheros.

The seafront has boats, a retro pier, and huts selling treats. The pier has been improved with a smaller beach and nice views.

The town has classic seaside entertainment like 2p machines.

The East Point Pavilion is a grand building with a coffee shop and community spaces. It has a pop-up plant shop and events.

The promenade has nice houses, green spaces, and charming cafes.

The beach has a long stretch of sand and is kid-friendly. It's a bit cold for swimming, but nice in the summer.

Some parts of Lowestoft are not great. The roads are confusing and the shopping area is not special.

The 2021 ranking was unfair. The town is improving with new facilities and community spaces.
