Lakers' Austin Reaves to Miss Many Games with Injury

The Lakers got another problem with only five games left before the playoffs.
The Lakers won't have Austin Reaves for the rest of the regular season because he hurt his left oblique muscle. He will miss 4-6 weeks. The Lakers play the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday.

The Lakers said Reaves is hurt.
Reaves is one of the Lakers' best players. He joined the team before the 2021-22 season and started playing more in his third season.
Reaves played 51 games this year, averaging 23.3 points, 5.5 assists, and 4.7 rebounds per game. He played 27 minutes in a loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The NBA might change a rule about players being eligible for awards.

Reaves got hurt after Luka Doncic got hurt too. Doncic was playing very well and scored 600 points in March.
Lakers coach J.J. Redick said the team's goal is still the same. They want to win a playoff series.
Reaves can get a new contract if he doesn't take his player option for next season. He will likely decline the option.
The Lakers' last game is on April 12 against the Utah Jazz.
