Voss Not Worried About His Future as Blues Coach
Michael Voss reflected on another second-half collapse from the Blues.
In short:
Michael Voss is preparing to face increased scrutiny about his position as Blues coach.
The Blues gave up a 21-point lead during the final quarter of their loss to the Kangaroos. They were winning but lost. The Blues had 13.8 points and the Kangaroos had 14.12 points. The Blues were ahead but then lost.
The result follows last week's defeat to the Demons, when the Blues lost a 43-point advantage.
Michael Voss is facing more speculation about his future as Carlton coach after the Blues endured another second-half meltdown.
The Blues lost a significant lead and surrendered the last five goals in a loss to North Melbourne. The score was 14.12 to 13.8. The Blues were winning but then lost. The game was on Good Friday at Docklands.
Carlton kicked five goals to two in the third term and led by 21 points, but lacked composure to complete the job.
The heat will continue to be applied to Voss, who was backed to see out at least the final year of his contract in 2026.
Voss has now presided over a 1-3 start to the season.
When speaking to reporters after the match, Voss was not interested in questions about his coaching future.
Voss said people can talk about his future if they want to.
The Blues have lost three of their four matches so far this season.
It was the ninth time since the start of last season that Carlton has lost after leading at half-time.
The defeat to the Kangaroos came just five days after they wasted a 43-point advantage in a loss to Melbourne.
Voss said it's hard to take the loss because they were in a good position in the game.
Fremantle also had a close game, holding on after Adelaide's James Borlase hit the post with 30 seconds left.
Voss said he did not sense his players were struggling mentally during the Kangaroos' surge.
Voss said the Blues had opportunities but did not take them.
Voss said the team needs moments of composure to finish the game.
Voss said there are gains to be made but the scoreboard says they lost.
The Blues next face the Crows in the opening match of Gather Round at Adelaide Oval on Thursday night.
