BBC Says Sorry for Snooker World Championship Coverage Problem

Mark Allen and Wu Yize were playing when the issue happened.

The BBC had to stop showing the Snooker World Championships due to technical problems.

The BBC said: 'We are sorry for the break and are trying to fix the fault. Please stay with us, we are having some technical issues.'

After some voiceovers, a wildlife show started on BBC Two because of a power problem at the Crucible.

The semi-final between Mark Allen and Wu Yize was in its third frame when the problem started.

The pictures stopped at 19:51 and were not back for 12 minutes, but then came back on BBC iPlayer and TNT.

Mark Allen won a frame while the BBC was not showing the game.

Pictures came back, and Hazel Irvine explained what happened and said Allen won the third frame.

Hazel Irvine said: 'Welcome back to Sheffield, sorry for the interruption. We had a power issue.'

She also said: 'We lost power, but Mark Allen did not. He took the third frame to start his semi-final.'

Mark Allen played well in the fourth frame, making a break of 76 to level the match. Then, coverage returned to the studio.

A BBC message appeared when the World Snooker Championship coverage cut to a wildlife show.

There was a loud noise, and the power went off, but Mark Allen made a break of 91.

Steve Davis said: 'The screens went blank, lights went off, and cameras stopped filming.'

Steve Davis also said: 'Mark Allen knew something happened, but he kept playing well. Nobody knew what to do, but he stayed calm.'

Mark Allen had a tough quarter-final match against Barry Hawkins earlier in the week.

Wu Yize beat Hossein Vafaei to get to the last four, along with John Higgins and Shaun Murphy, and they all want to play in the final on Monday.
