Top Democrat Criticizes Socialists in His Party
A leading House Democrat criticized socialists in his party. He told them to start their own party and said they are trying to take over the Democrats.
Rep. Josh Gottheimer said the Democratic Socialists of America are not Democrats. He rejected their platform and said it is not compatible with the Democratic Party.
Gottheimer said he is a proud Democrat and does not think DSA members are Democrats. He said they can have their own party, but they cannot take over the Democratic Party.

Gottheimer said the DSA's values and ideas are not in line with the Democratic Party. He said they are trying to use the party for their own ideas and are anti-American.
Gottheimer was referring to DSA members who said they want to get ICE off campuses and support the Communist Manifesto.

Gottheimer said there are 45 million registered Democrats, but only 150,000 official DSA members.
He said the DSA is not welcome in the Democratic Party.

Gottheimer said he does not plan to leave the Democratic Party, but Jones noted that another New Jersey Democrat already has.
