Kit Chan's Song 'Home' Now on Vinyl
The studio made 61 special vinyl copies of 'Home' in the shape of Singapore. Each copy has a small clay house on top and is signed by Kit Chan.
Kit Chan said, 'It's very special to have my song on vinyl.' She likes listening to vinyl music herself.
When 'Home' first came out in 1998, it was only on CD. Kit Chan isn't sure if people could buy it. She only has one CD copy. People usually listen to 'Home' digitally or at live shows.
Kit Chan is excited about the vinyl release of 'Home'.
Art/st Records is a studio in Singapore that makes custom vinyl records. It was started by Charlyn Yap and Lee Sin Yee in 2025.
The studio began with an old machine from the 1940s. This year, they got a new machine to make more creative music projects.
The studio wanted their new machine's first project to be something special for Singapore. They chose Kit Chan's 'Home' because it's never been on vinyl before.
The studio got permission from the song's owners and talked to Kit Chan's team. They also worked with the song's composer, Dick Lee, and producer Sydney Tan to get the original recordings.
Everyone who helped make 'Home' originally supported the studio's project. They wanted to bring Singapore's music history back to life in a physical form.
Making the vinyl records was a complex process. The studio cut each record into a custom shape, paired with local packaging and ceramic houses made by artisans.
The project is not just about the record, but about local artists working together.
The studio wants to make a special, handmade vinyl release for Singapore every year on National Day.
The 'Home' vinyl record and ceramic house set cost S$198. People can pre-order them on August 9 at 12pm on the Art/st Records website.
