Google's 2026 Event: What to Expect

The event will be hosted by comedian Trevor Noah and will feature many guests, including Stephen Curry and PinkPantheress. This is different from last year's event, which was presented like a Tonight Show segment with Jimmy Fallon.
Here's what to expect from the event.
The event will be streamed live on YouTube and the Google Store at 6 p.m. ET on August 12. This is later than previous years. International viewers will need to plan accordingly, as the event starts at 11 p.m. in the UK and midnight in Europe.
Google and Best Buy have already started a countdown for preorders of the Pixel 11 phones, which will end before the event starts. This means that most news about the phones will be available online before the event.
Four phones will be showcased during the event:
Pixel 11
Pixel 11 Pro
Pixel 11 Pro XL
Pixel 11 Pro Fold
The new phones will have similar designs to the previous models, but with some changes, such as a black camera bar.
The phones will have a new Tensor G6 chip, which will be Google's first chip built on a 2-nanometer process. This could make the Pixel 11 one of the first smartphones to use this process.
Google will drop the 128GB base storage tier and replace it with 256GB as the new minimum for the Pixel 11 and Pixel 11 Pro. The Pixel 11 Pro will have 12GB of RAM, which is less than the previous model.
The Pixel 11 Pro and Pro XL will have a triple-camera setup, with a 50MP main camera, 48MP ultrawide camera, and 48MP periscope telephoto camera. The standard Pixel 11's camera specs are not yet confirmed.
The foldable phone will have an 8-inch inner display and a slimmer folded profile. It may also have a telephoto lens and a slightly smaller battery.
Prices for the new phones will increase due to rising component costs. The likely starting prices are: Pixel 11 - $899, Pixel 11 Pro - $1,099, Pixel 11 Pro XL - $1,299, Pixel 11 Pro Fold - $1,899
The new phones will have different color options, including a bright pink option for the standard Pixel 11 and a 'Dune' hero color for the Pro models.
The Pixel Watch 5 will have a similar design to the previous model, but with some internal changes, such as a new Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 chip and 64GB of storage.
The new watch will have a similar battery life to the previous model, with 30 and 40 hours for the 41mm and 45mm sizes, respectively.
The Pixel Watch 5 will have a similar design to the previous model, which may not be compelling for owners to upgrade.
The pricing for the Pixel Watch 5 will be around $399 for the 41mm model and $429 for the 45mm model.
There will be a special edition of the Pixel Watch 5, called the Steph Curry Special Edition, which will have a unique watch band.
A new feature called 'HiLight' will be introduced, which will allow the camera-bar flash to glow in different colors.
The 'HiLight' feature will be exclusive to the Pro models and will replace the temperature sensor found on the camera bar of previous models.
Not everyone is convinced that the 'HiLight' feature will be useful, as it may not be noticeable when the phone is in use.
The 'HiLight' feature will not be available on the base Pixel 11.
The software, not the hardware, may be the main focus of the event, with Gemini Intelligence being central to the presentation.
Gemini Intelligence will be a personal, proactive assistant that can surface helpful information unprompted.
The Pixel Watch 5 will have improved sleep tracking and a feature called 'Proactive Suggestions' that offers context-aware reply recommendations for messages.
Googlebook laptops and Android XR smart glasses are unlikely to appear at the event, as they are scheduled for a fall launch.
Other products, such as a Pixel smart ring or new Pixelsnap accessories, are also unlikely to appear.
