Olympic Rowing Champion Olaf Tufte Dies

Olaf Tufte was a Norwegian rower who competed in 7 Summer Games and won 2 gold medals.

Olaf Tufte, a great Olympic rower, has died at the age of 50. He won two gold medals and competed in seven Summer Games.

Tufte's family said he was found unconscious at their farm and died in a hospital in Oslo. He is survived by his wife and two children.

Norway's Prime Minister said Tufte brought joy to the nation through sports. He was a great sporting hero and a good role model.

Tufte competed in the Summer Games from 1996 to 2021. He won two gold medals in single sculls and also won silver and bronze medals.

Tufte ended his competitive career at the Tokyo Olympics at age 45. He was still leading by example and rowing with younger teammates.

Tufte also coached a rower to a silver medal at the Paralympic Games in Paris.

Tufte had many jobs outside of rowing, including running a farm, being a firefighter, and starting his own businesses.

Tufte once said, 'I'm not made for resting. I need to do other things or I get bored.' He will be remembered for his many achievements.
