Facebook Introduces New Verified Badge

Facebook has a new way to stop scammers: a free Verified badge for real users.

Facebook explained that AI makes it easier for scammers to create fake content and profiles.

Facebook Verified is a badge that users can get by recording a short video selfie, which Facebook checks against their profile photos.

The badge is for users 18 and older who follow Facebook's rules and are not flagged for fraud or scams.

The badge is not for Pages or ProMode accounts.

At first, the badge will show in important places like Marketplace and Profile, and later in Feed posts.

The Facebook Verified program will start in some markets and then expand globally.

Facebook Verified is free, unlike Meta Verified, a paid subscription that includes verification.
