The rocket was not supposed to go to the Moon. It went up in January 2025 with two small spacecraft. Then it had no fuel to come back or go further. The Moon's gravity pulled it in. This crash could have been stopped. It is the second time a rocket part has hit the Moon by mistake.

This crash is a good chance for scientists to learn. The new hole will be 66 to 98 feet wide and 16 feet deep. It is too small to see from Earth, but spacecraft can take pictures. The crash will send dust up high. NASA and South Korea will take pictures to see if space junk is bad for astronauts.
