Democratic Group Starts $15M Campaign Against Socialist Party
A major Democratic group, Third Way, is starting a new $15 million campaign to criticize democratic socialism, according to Fox News.
Third Way plans to target the Democratic Socialists of America, which they think is very bad for Democrats.
This happens after Abdul El-Sayed, a candidate on the left, won a big primary election in Michigan, beating a more moderate Democrat, Haley Stevens. This win, along with others like it, is making the left feel stronger in its fight for the future of the Democratic Party.
El-Sayed's close win, and other similar wins, are happening after earlier victories this spring and summer, and are making the left feel more confident in its battle for the Democratic Party's future.

Abdul El-Sayed held a news conference in Detroit, Michigan, before his primary win.
Third Way co-founder Matt Bennett said, 'We think the DSA is a big threat to Democrats. Their ideas are bad and their politics are harmful. To beat the Republicans, we can't let our party be controlled by radicals.'
The group will do research on the DSA, polls, social media campaigns, and educate Democratic activists, but they say they're not targeting individual candidates, some of whom are now the party's nominees.
The DSA responded, saying, '$15 million to tell working-class people that a better world isn't possible? We believe in people's power, and our vision for a better future is winning.'

Some Democrats are worried that nominating very left-wing candidates could hurt the party's chances in the midterm elections.
They're also worried that these primary wins could help progressive candidates in the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination race.

The centrist group Third Way is launching a big campaign to target the Democratic Socialists of America, which it sees as a threat.
Referring to El-Sayed's win in Michigan, Bennett said it gives the wrong idea to 2028 presidential candidates about how to win in places like Michigan.
