B.C. RCMP Leader Removed from Job

B.C. RCMP Leader Removed from Job
The RCMP in B.C. has a new leader because of some allegations from 2016 to 2018. The RCMP said this in a statement. The allegations are not specified. The RCMP is not saying more about this now.
Dwayne McDonald is not the deputy commissioner or the B.C. RCMP leader anymore. John Brewer, who used to lead the extortion task force in B.C., is now in charge. McDonald had this job before.
The RCMP said they will not give more details about the allegations now. This was said by Commissioner Mike Duheme on Thursday.
Commissioner Duheme said the RCMP's work will not change because of this. He wants people to know that policing services will stay the same.
The allegations are being looked into. They were recently told to the RCMP.
Dwayne McDonald used to be in charge of the Surrey RCMP. He also led investigations into federal and organized crime in B.C.

Dwayne McDonald had almost 30 years of experience in law enforcement. He used to work at the Canada Border Services Agency.
He had many roles, including leading the homicide team and the anti-gang unit. He often spoke at news conferences.
Dwayne McDonald received an award for his work in 2015.
The B.C. RCMP is the largest division of the force. It is one of 15 divisions.
John Brewer, the new leader, was an assistant commissioner before. He is now in charge of E Division and is a deputy commissioner.
The RCMP said John Brewer is a respected leader and has their full trust.
