Former Singapore Oil Tycoon OK Lim Gets 127 Charges Dropped

The Attorney-General's office told The Straits Times that they decided not to pursue charges against Lim and instead gave him a warning.

This decision was made after carefully looking at the facts of the case, and the prosecution then asked for the remaining charges to be dropped.

A district court gave Lim a discharge, which means he cannot be tried again for the same offenses.

Hin Leong founder Lim Oon Kuin went to court for sentencing. He is also known as O.K. Lim.

Lim is currently in prison for cheating and helping with forgery. He was found guilty in 2024.

The court found that Lim tricked a bank into giving Hin Leong $111.6 million using fake contracts. He also told an employee to fake documents.

Lim's sentence was originally 17.5 years, but it was reduced to 13.5 years after he appealed.

The judge said the original sentence was too harsh. She also thought the sentencing judge was wrong to consider that Lim's actions hurt the oil industry in Singapore.

Lim was taken to prison from a hospital to start his sentence. He had been in the hospital due to breathing problems.

Hin Leong was a big oil trading company in Asia before it suddenly collapsed in 2020.

The company was owned by Lim and his children. They were declared bankrupt in 2024 after settling lawsuits with the company's liquidators and a bank.
