Lewis Hamilton Gets Penalty at Hungarian GP

Sky Sports Formula 1 expert Anthony Davidson questioned Lewis Hamilton's penalty for speeding in the pit lane. He looked at the footage of Hamilton's second tire change and couldn't understand why he got a penalty.

The race officials said Hamilton drove 80.1kph in the pit lane, which has a 80kph limit. He got a five-second penalty and finished fifth, after finishing fourth on the track.

A camera on the Ferrari showed Hamilton pressing the pit limiter button on time. Davidson didn't know why Hamilton was punished as he watched the clip many times.

Davidson said on Sky Sports: 'I've looked at this many times and I don't see why he gets a penalty. He slows down well and I don't see him speeding.'

'Let's look at the exit. Hamilton knew he had to hurry to get back in the race. He releases the pit lane button on the line and knows what he's doing.'

'Maybe there was an error when he was close to the line and the car's speed was wrong. It's strange that it only happened once. I don't have enough data, but it looked fine to me.'

It was Hamilton's second punishment of the weekend and his fourth in three races. He said Ferrari shouldn't have made him stop and he made too many mistakes recently.

Hamilton said: 'I don't think we should have stopped. The call came just before the pit lane and I didn't have time to discuss it. My tires were fine and I would have kept third at least.'

Hamilton said: 'The last three races haven't been great for me. I made mistakes at Silverstone and the last race, and this weekend. I got many penalties, so I need to work hard to not make more mistakes.'

Hamilton wants to improve and not give officials a reason to give him more penalties. He will work hard to do better in the next races.
