0:19Dunton and his wife Margaret ride from
0:20Tennessee to Montana with their two
0:22children Elsa and John nicknamed Jack
0:24they make the difficult and arduous
0:26Journey because they're seeking a better
0:28life but by the time they arrive in
0:30Montana many of their traveling parties
0:32have died including Elsa while the
0:34family is grieving the loss of their
0:36daughter they decide to settle on the
0:37land where she dies as it turns out the
0:40tree under which she took her last
0:41breath was also the place where John
0:43Dutton warned the death of his oldest
0:45son Lee in Yellowstone season one
0:47viewers were devastated by Elsa's Ark
0:49because so much of the series had
0:51revolved around her many fans had been
0:53convinced that after falling in love
0:55with Ennis and losing her virginity to
0:57him the family would discover she was
0:59pregnant by the end of the season
1:00unfortunately that wasn't the case
1:03Ennis also died trying to protect them
1:04Eric Nelson who played Ennis told TV
1:07Insider we could have conquered the
1:08world together but it wasn't in the
1:10plans he also went on to praise the
1:12realistic portrayal of the time period
1:14adding we just see how quickly things
1:17can change and so you can't take a
1:19single second or day for granted also
1:22narrated her family's perilous journey
1:24to Montana in 1883 and she's doing the
1:26same from beyond the grave in 1923.
1:29foreshadowing what's to come for the
1:31remaining duttons the 1883 season finale
1:34ends with Elsa reuniting in death with
1:36Sam the Comanche man she fell in love
1:38with after Ennis died before the pair
1:40raced through the planes Elsa's
1:42voiceover explains there's a moment why
1:45a dream sending memories March together
1:47and form a perfect world that is heaven
1:52Elsa may be gone but she isn't quite
1:55done talking about her family or the
1:57difficulties they face 1923 opens with
2:00the same brutality that we've long come
2:02to associate with the Yellowstone
2:04Universe it doesn't waste time with
2:06introductions instead immediately
2:08jumping into the action we start with an
2:10unknown man limping while he tries to
2:12run obviously having been shot in the
2:14leg we quickly realize that he's not
2:16supposed to be on the Dutton land and
2:18any sympathy we have for him dissipates
2:21when we see that he's about to shoot our
2:23protagonist Cara Dutton while she
2:25screams in anguish after killing him
2:27it's clear she's done this before Elsa's
2:30voice over plainly states
2:32violence has always haunted this family
2:35reminding us that this sentiment is kind
2:38of the dutton's motto Cara like the
2:40duttons before and after isn't afraid to
2:43do what's necessary for the ranch and
2:45family from Elsa's voiceover we also
2:47learned that her parents James and
2:49Margaret had a second son Spencer before
2:51meeting tragic fates of their own after
2:54their deaths James brother Jacob and his
2:56wife Cara took the boy in raised him and
2:58built the Empire his brother dreamed of
3:01viewers are given a major clue as to
3:03what's to come in 1923 when Elsa States
3:06my father had three children
3:10one would live to see their own children
3:12grow while the season begins with both
3:14brothers alive we now know one won't
3:17survive the season but fans probably
3:19shouldn't think that hint about the
3:21events of 1923 has given anything away
3:23Siri's Creator Taylor Sheridan is known
3:25for taking story lines places no one
