12 Million Pensioners to Get Up to £575 More from Next Week

The new financial year starts on April 6, bringing changes for state pension recipients. The Government hopes to provide financial security for pensioners.
The State Pensions will increase by 4.8 percent, benefiting 12 million pensioners by up to £575. The Triple Lock will help raise the State Pension value over time.
The Triple Lock increases state pension rates each year by the highest of three figures.
The Triple Lock ensures state pension rates stay ahead of inflation.
State pension rates are rising by 4.8 percent, in line with UK wage growth. The full new state pension weekly rate will rise from £230.25 to £241.30.
The standard minimum guarantee for Pension Credit will increase by 4.8 percent, taking payments up to £238 a week for a single pensioner and £363.25 for a couple.
Pension Credit also opens the door to additional support. The department is encouraging pensioners to check their eligibility and apply.
The MP highlighted support from Housing Benefit and the new Crisis and Resilience Fund to help pensioners at risk of hardship.
4.7 million people receive the new state pension, but only half receive the full amount. To claim the full new state pension, you need 35 qualifying years.
Other DWP payments, including Pension Credit, will also increase this month.
Qualifying years are years you paid National Insurance, bought voluntary contributions, or received National Insurance credits. With less than 35 years, you'll get a proportion of the state pension rate.
The average weekly amount received by people on the new state pension ranged from £205 to £209.49 between women and men. The full new state pension is worth £230.25 a week before the April 6 increase.
Those receiving the full new state pension may face issues as the increase on April 6 will bring their income near their personal allowance.
Chancellor Rachel Reeves assured that anyone whose sole income is the state pension won't have to pay income tax on it if it breaches the threshold next April.
