Unemployment rate goes down but trend rate is at a four-year high

Australia's unemployment rate is 4.4 percent. The trend unemployment rate is also 4.4 percent.
The unemployment rate in Australia went down to 4.4 percent in May. It was 4.5 percent in April.
40,300 more people got jobs in May. The number of people without jobs decreased by 18,300.
But the trend unemployment rate went up a little to 4.4 percent. This is the highest it has been since 2022.
For four years, the unemployment rate has been slowly going up. The Reserve Bank has been trying to help the economy.
Today's numbers show that the unemployment rate is still going up.
The Reserve Bank thought the unemployment rate would be 4.3 percent by the end of this year. They thought it would be 4.4 percent by June 2027 and 4.6 percent by the end of 2027.
