Easter Sunday is now just a little over a week away, and most of us will have a small stockpile of chocolate eggs and other Easter goodies stashed away ready for the big day. But if you're still looking for that perfect Easter treat and happen to have a ridiculously large budget, then Harrods might just have the egg of your dreams - or at least that's the opinion of one food reviewer online who tried the £750 behemoth.

Carmie Sellitto recently picked up an Easter egg from Harrods' new chocolate counter that set him back more money than most families would spend on their food shopping for an entire month.

The £750 Easter egg came from the Marchesi 1824 counter in the Harrods food court, which Carmie said was a "brand new" stall at the luxury department store that takes its name from a famous pastry shop in Milan, Italy.

He said the chocolates sold at the counter are all handmade, which explains some of the hefty price tag attached to the Easter egg Carmie bought.

Weighing a staggering 1kg, the egg features delicate icing and an intricate design, with golden crowns and stripes of gold running down the length of the dark chocolate masterpiece.

Picking up the egg, Carmie said: "This is a beast. I need to be so careful because it's an actual masterpiece. Look at the details of this! I have to take some photos of this egg because this will go down in history."

Holding the egg didn't feel "real" and that he felt "like a prince" thanks to the crown designs on the huge chocolate treat. And he was equally amazed when he finally sunk his teeth into the top of the egg.

The foodie exclaimed: "I've taken a couple of bites, and already the chocolate is just so good. It just tastes like the most expensive chocolate I've ever tried in my life – probably because it is.

"It's 100% the best Easter egg I've ever tried in my life. I'm going to go ahead and rate this a solid 10/10."

While Carmie was blown away by the expensive Easter egg and seemingly believed it was worth the £750 price tag, commenters on his post were fuming at his reaction, as they believed he'd missed one major downside.

One person pointed out: "Nothing inside the egg for £750 is outrageous." Someone else shared: "Too much money, no sense."

Others said the egg looked "cheap" despite the outrageous price, while another noted that £750 is enough money to feed a family of five for a month, so it made "no sense" to spend that on an Easter egg.

One said: "That's rent. That's food for a family of five for a month." And a second argued: "Bro is just lying to himself. I know it was mid."
