US Army Chief Asked to Retire Now

The US War Secretary, Pete Hegseth, asked the army's top officer to leave. The Pentagon did not give a reason. The US is currently at war with Iran.
Gen. Randy George will retire from his position immediately, said Sean Parnell.
George has been in the post since August 2023.
Hegseth has fired many top generals and admirals. The reason for George's departure is not clear. The US is at war with Iran and there is no end in sight.
Hegseth wants to negotiate with Iran, but will use force.
George graduated from West Point and served in several wars.
George was not fired earlier, but many other top military leaders were. They included Adm. Lisa Franchetti and Gen. Jim Slife.
Many other top generals and admirals have retired early or been removed.
George's deputy was also removed from his post and replaced by Lt. Gen. Christopher LaNeve.
