People in the house got out safely when lightning hit and caused a fire.
The fire started on the roof and first floor of the house in Emersons Green, Bristol, on Monday at 6pm. People living nearby heard a loud noise and saw black smoke.
A neighbour said they heard a big explosion. They knew something was wrong and then saw smoke. They are glad no one was hurt.
Videos on social media showed the roof on fire with black smoke. Firefighters used hoses to put out the fire.
The fire service got a call about the fire at 5:55pm. When they arrived, the house was on fire.
Firefighters from many stations came to help. The house was badly damaged, with the roof gone and the first floor hurt by the fire.
This fire was one of five caused by lightning that the fire service dealt with on Monday.
Before the fire, the fire service warned about hot weather and its dangers.
They told people to be careful in the heat and warned about swimming in open water and having barbecues.
The fire service also went to four other incidents caused by lightning on Monday.
Firefighters from five stations came to the scene.
The thunderstorms stopped the heatwave for a little while. There was a warning about bad weather on Monday night.
