Netflix's Avatar: The Last Airbender Does Justice to Toph

The show lets Toph's personality shine through with her jokes and earthbending skills. Cech captures Toph's confidence and physicality well.

The show pays homage to Toph's iconic moments, like her seismic sense and earthbending moves. It also builds on her character in fun ways.
However, the show falls short in its treatment of Earth Rumble VI.
Earth Rumble VI is a big earthbending fight where Toph meets Aang, Katara, and Sokka. The fighters are very strong.
Toph beats the Boulder with just two moves, showing how powerful she is. The animated series also shows her fighting the whole crew.
This fight is one of the coolest moments in the show, as Toph shows off her skills and reveals her true power to her parents.
Unfortunately, the live-action show cuts this final fight completely, only keeping the Boulder. This omission is disappointing.
Losing the other Earth Rumble VI fighters means the show misses out on showcasing earthbending's versatility. The live-action fight with the Boulder is fun but lacks style and scale.
The show's problem is that it can't match the animated show's fight scenes, so it doesn't try. This makes fans long for the original show.
Fans will notice what's missing and wish for the original show. This raises the question of why remake something that was already great.
