Commuting to London is Expensive but Worth it for Some

The UK has seen a big rise in the cost of living due to Covid-19, the war in Ukraine, and the conflict in Iran.

Train travel is one of the costs that Britons face, with some of the highest fares in Europe. This is a problem for people with long journeys outside of London's price cap.

For some people, expensive train tickets are worth it for their mental health and work.

Olivia Norton, 37, lives in south Devon but commutes to central London by train.

It takes her four-and-a-half hours to get to work and costs £150 for an off-peak ticket. Despite this, Olivia won't move to London.

Olivia said, 'I used to hate commuting, but now it's a valuable part of my life.'

Olivia uses her commute to think, read, and relax.

Olivia likes her community in Devon and her husband's supper club. She wouldn't want to live in London again.

Olivia isn't the only one who likes living outside of London. Ellisha Clapham left London for the North of England.
