Antiques Roadshow Shows Rare Royal Items, Expert Is Amazed

An expert on Antiques Roadshow felt emotional after seeing a rare item connected to the late Queen Elizabeth II.

Expert Geoffrey Munn examined two 'priceless' items belonging to the Queen, now at the Guildhall in London.

The items were described as 'staggering' by the expert.

He said: 'You have brought me two very rare and wonderful objects that are important and special.'

A man explained that these items went with the late Queen on her travels and were part of significant moments in her reign.

The expert became visibly moved, describing the piece as 'staggering', and thanked the man for letting him see the items.

Geoffrey also spoke with a woman whose mother met the Queen in Canada.

The woman said: 'My mother was there when the Queen arrived, she curtsied, and the next day, the Queen gave her a lighter.'

Geoffrey said: 'Yes, and it's a Dunhill lighter with the Queen's symbol on it.'

The lighter had a great story behind it.

The woman got a heartfelt letter from Lady Susan Hussey, saying the Queen remembered her mother's welcome in Canada.

This episode is part of a tribute to the Queen's 100th birthday, with the BBC showing commemorative programmes about her life.

The Queen would have been 100 this year.

Before she died, Queen Elizabeth II was known for her stability, duty, and long service.
