BBC Host Matt Tebbutt Talks About Leaving MasterChef

Matt Tebbutt is upset about leaving MasterChef.

Matt Tebbutt spoke out about the BBC after they decided not to keep him on MasterChef: The Professionals. He was a replacement for Gregg Wallace, but now he's leaving after one season. The presenter is 52 years old.

Matt Tebbutt, who also hosts Saturday Kitchen, said he was very upset about being let go.

On BBC Radio 4's The Food Programme, Matt said: "It was difficult. I was upset. It could have been handled better. I'm not going to say I wasn't upset. I was really upset."

Matt was on the show with Marcus Wareing and Monica Galetti.

Matt shared the screen with Marcus Wareing and Monica Galetti, but he accepts the decision to let him go, especially in the entertainment business.

Matt added: "But it is what it is. There are worse things. You have to be strong. It's part of the job. If you're a politician, you'll face criticism. It's just normal."

Matt said: "Walking into an established show, you don't want to disrupt everything. I got to know Monica and Marcus, and the crew, and did my job."

In March, it was reported that Matt was leaving MasterChef. Insiders said he didn't do anything wrong, but producers thought two hosts were better for the show.

A source said: "Some people might be surprised Matt isn't staying. He didn't do anything wrong and will return as a guest."

The source added: "Bosses realized they could get away with just Marcus and Monica, since they have great chemistry."

The source said: "Three hosts were too many. Matt took it well and has other work. The experience was good for him."

A Banijay spokeswoman said: "No decisions have been made about the hosts for future series. We won't comment on speculation."

Matt was 'really upset' when he was let go from the program.

MasterChef faced problems after accusations against Gregg Wallace, who was fired after 45 complaints were substantiated. Matt joined the show and was happy to work with Marcus and Monica.

At the time, Matt said: "It's an honor to work with Marcus and Monica. I look forward to them guiding me and the chefs getting off to a great start!"

Matt said: "I want to be the nice guy. I've run kitchens before and know the pressure the chefs are under!" He also talked about being nervous about taking the job.
