Making the Switch to Local Dairy Deliveries

For a long time, the milk from my local supermarkets tasted bland and lacked any real depth of flavor.

As someone who regularly shops at both Aldi and Sainsbury's, I grew accustomed to buying all my groceries from these stores, switching between them based on what I needed at the time. However, after becoming increasingly disappointed with the quality of their milk and yoghurt, I decided it was time for a change.

The milk always seemed to lack flavor and had an unappealing watery texture, while the Greek yoghurt was often too thin and would spoil quickly. This led me to explore alternative options for sourcing these dairy products.

Living in a small coastal community, I was keen to support local businesses and discovered the option of having my milk and yoghurt delivered from a nearby farm, which aligned with my values.

At first, the idea of having milk delivered to my home brought back memories of the lukewarm, almost sour milk we used to get in school, but I was determined to give it a try.

After doing some research, I came across Plurenden Manor Farm, a family-run dairy farm that produces award-winning products and is located about an hour away from my home.

I was delighted to find that the milk was smooth, creamy, and full of flavor, unlike the supermarket alternatives I was used to. The eggs and natural live yoghurt were also of high quality, but the Greek yoghurt stood out for its exceptional creaminess.

Since my first order, I have continued to make weekly purchases from the farm, and I can confidently say that I will not be going back to buying dairy products from supermarkets unless absolutely necessary.

One challenge I have faced is occasionally over-ordering and then having to rush to consume all the products before they expire, but this is a minor issue.

What surprised me the most was the affordability of the local dairy deliveries. Despite expecting them to be expensive, I found that the prices were reasonable and justified by the high quality of the products.

For example, a pint of whole milk from a local store costs slightly more than the supermarket alternative, but the difference in quality is noticeable. Similarly, the prices of eggs and other products are comparable to those found in supermarkets.

The flexibility to adjust my order each week based on my needs is also a significant advantage, allowing me to manage my expenses and make adjustments as necessary.

Overall, I am pleased with my decision to switch to local dairy deliveries and look forward to continuing to support local businesses and enjoy high-quality products.
