Toy Story 5 Breaks Box Office Records

Toy Story 5 was the top movie at the box office this weekend.

The Hollywood Reporter says Toy Story 5 will make around $160 million in its first weekend. This is more than The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, which made $131.7 million. The Super Mario Galaxy Movie opened on a Wednesday and made $190.8 million over five days. Toy Story 5 is on track to have the biggest opening weekend of 2026. The movie is doing very well at the box office.

If Toy Story 5 makes $160 million, it will set a new record for the Toy Story movies. Toy Story 4 currently holds this record with $120.9 million.

Toy Story 5 almost broke three other box office records. It almost had the highest opening weekend for a Pixar movie, the highest opening day, and the highest opening day for an animated movie. The Incredibles 2 still holds these records with $182.6 million and $72.2 million. Toy Story 5 made $71 million on its first day, which is Pixar's second-best opening day.

The movie's opening is good news for Pixar. Toy Story 3 and Toy Story 4 both made over $1 billion worldwide. Toy Story 5 might also make $1 billion. If it does, it will join other Pixar sequels like Finding Dory and The Incredibles 2.
