Mother Can't Go on Holiday Due to Passport Rule

A mother was very upset because she couldn't go on her holiday.

A 29-year-old mother was stopped from going on a Jet2 flight she paid £2,500 for because of an EU rule.

Jansen Porter from Milton Keynes was trying to fly to Kefalonia, Greece, with her partner and daughter on May 11.

She couldn't get on the plane because her passport wasn't valid for the EU's 10-year rule. This rule ruined her family holiday.

Although her passport expires in December 2026, it was issued in March 2016, so it actually expired in March 2026.

Jet2 staff told Jansen that she couldn't get on the plane because passports no longer have a nine-month extra time.

This was very sad because the trip was to celebrate her daughter's fourth birthday, and they had been saving for it since Christmas.

Jansen's passport was the problem.

Jansen said she was devastated and heartbroken. She chose Kefalonia because her mum took her there when she was young.
