HCMC Makes List of Top 10 Global Food Destinations

On June 8, a survey of 24,000 people in 150 cities ranked the best food destinations. An international team of food experts then reviewed the rankings.

Lima, Peru, is the top food destination, followed by Bangkok, Thailand, Mexico City, Mexico, London, UK, and Barcelona, Spain.

A British magazine says 2026 is the year HCMC's fine dining scene became well-known, moving past its 'emerging' status.

In April, a restaurant called CieL was named the world's third-best restaurant by Food & Wine. It got a Michelin star just seven months after opening.

Chef Le Viet Hong is in the kitchen at CieL restaurant.

Tales by Chapter, a zero-waste restaurant, made it to a list of best new restaurants and got a Michelin Green Star on June 4.

The city is making its food better, with a 12-course menu at Pot Au Pho 2.0, but you can still get a bowl of pho at a sidewalk stall for a low price.

The city got a 70% approval rating from experts, and 75% of locals said the food scene is 'good' or 'amazing'.

Street food is the top asset, with 63% approval, followed by coffee culture with 61%.
