0:04Nestled [music] in the vast M'Nong
0:06Plateau, Dak Nong region in Lam Dong
0:09province,
0:09>> [music]
0:10>> is one of the coffee capitals of
0:11Vietnam's Central Highlands.
0:16For generations, [music] most people
0:18here have grown up working the coffee
0:20fields with farming [music] shaping
0:22their everyday lives from an early age.
0:26As the coffee [music] trees begin to
0:28blossom, wild bees return in large
0:30numbers, [music] inspiring local people
0:33to take up beekeeping.
0:38>> When the coffee plants start to bloom,
0:41the blossoms attract large numbers of
0:43wild bees. That's what gave us the idea
0:46of keeping bees as an additional source
0:48of income.
0:49At the same time, they help pollinate
0:51the coffee [music] flowers, allowing
0:53more coffee cherries to develop.
0:56>> Driven by their passion for beekeeping,
0:59local [music] people began working
1:01towards creating a Central Highlands
1:03honey brand.
1:11>> That's when we started thinking about
1:13bringing local beekeepers together so we
1:15could develop clean production areas and
1:18ensure a more consistent quality of
1:20honey.
1:21At the same time, we wanted to build a
1:23Central Highlands honey brand so that
1:25local beekeepers and everyone involved
1:28could benefit from working together.
1:32The coffee blossoms here only last
1:34around 3 to 7 days. Once the coffee
1:37plants have finished flowering in one
1:39area, we have to move the hives to
1:42another so the bees can continue to feed
1:45on an abundant supply of nectar.
1:48>> Driven by love and [music] passion,
1:50local people continue to devote
1:52themselves to both their coffee trees
1:54[music] and their bee colonies.
1:58>> My hope is that in the years ahead, we
2:00can build a trusted, high-quality honey
2:03brand for the Central Highlands through
2:05a large-scale cooperative farming model,
2:08and in doing so, help many more people.
