0:00Multiple studies have found that since
0:01Chad PT came out, people everywhere have
0:03been saying the word delve more in
0:05spontaneous spoken conversation.
0:07We know that Chad says delve at way
0:09higher rates than usual, possibly
0:11because OpenAI outsourced its training
0:13process to workers in Nigeria who do
0:14actually say delve more frequently. Over
0:17time though, that little linguistic over
0:19representation got reinforced into the
0:20model even more than in the workers own
0:22dialects. Now that's affecting
0:24everybody's language. As an etmologist
0:26and content creator, I always see
0:28controversial messages go more viral
0:29because they generate more engagement
0:31than a neutral perspective. But that
0:33means we all end up seeing this more
0:35extreme version of reality. And we're
0:37clearly starting to confuse that with
0:39actual reality. But it's incredibly
0:42dangerous to ignore that distinction
0:43because this goes beyond our language
0:45and our consumptive behaviors. This
0:47affects the world we see as possible. We
0:49need to constantly remember that these
0:51aren't neutral tools. Everything that
0:54ends up in your social media feed or in
0:56your chatbot responses is actually
0:58filtered through many layers of what's
0:59good for the platform, what makes money,
1:01and what conforms to the platform's
1:03incorrect idea about who you are. When
1:06we ignore this, we view reality through
1:08a constant survivorship bias, which
1:10affects our understanding of the world.
1:12After all, if you're talking more like
1:14Chat GBT, you're probably thinking more
1:17like ChatgBT as well, or Tik Tok, or
1:20Spotify. But you can fight this if you
1:22constantly ask yourself why. Why am I
1:25seeing this? Why am I saying this? Why
1:28am I thinking this? And why is the
1:30platform rewarding this? If you don't
1:32ask yourself these questions, their
1:34version of reality is going to become
1:35your version of reality. So stay real.
