People are buying fewer things because they only want to buy what they need. They are not buying things they can live without.
Now, people are choosing cheaper brands when they shop.

People are spending less because they have less money. They still need to buy everyday things, but they are buying less of them.
The cost of living in Thailand went up by 1.95% in July 2026. This means that things cost a little more than they did last year.
The government is helping people with a special program. They spent about 43 billion baht to help people in July.
About 26 million people used this help, and they spent about 1,600 baht each.
But this help was not enough to make people feel better about their money.
In June, people spent their money quickly because they did not want to lose it. In July, they spent it more slowly.
After people bought what they needed, they did not have much money left for other things.
There was also a lot of rain in July, which meant fewer people went to big stores.
