Dilapidated Toilets in Tay Ninh Schools Disrupt Students’ Comfort and Learning
Inside the same toilets, old water pipes have rusted, large patches of plaster are peeling, the tiled floor has sunk about 20 centimeters, and the walls are cracked; the roof is riddled with finger‑sized holes, fixtures are broken, and the drainage system no longer works.
Teacher Nguyen Thanh Yen explains that the school spends money on yearly repairs, but the two 20‑year‑old toilet blocks – together covering about 30 square metres – are too old to be fixed properly.
At Hoa Dong Primary School Campus 2, Principal Dang Cong Xuan reports that there are two toilet blocks, each over ten years old and about 10 square metres in size, and more than 200 students have to line up during every break because the facilities are too small.
The Tay Ninh Department of Education says that nearly 40 primary schools in the province need new or repaired sanitation facilities, and the state funding requests from these schools have not been approved.
These conditions make students uncomfortable, force them to wait in long queues, and take time away from lessons, showing how poor sanitation can directly affect daily school life.
