How many walrus pictures are on the WWF UK website?

Walruses are big, fat, and a bit grumpy. They are easy to see, but hard to count because they live in a remote place. We do not know how many there are.

Now, scientists will use satellite pictures to find all the walruses in the Atlantic and Laptev Sea. This is important because climate change is hurting these animals.

The ice where walruses live is melting fast. They have to change their behavior and come onto land more often. This is bad for them, but we do not know how bad. This project will help us find out.

We have been taking pictures of the Earth from space for over 60 years. Our pictures have gotten much better. A long time ago, we could only see big things, but now we can see small things.

Today, our best satellites can see very small details. This has changed how we see the natural world.

Even with good pictures, counting walruses is hard. So, some helpers are looking at pictures to find walruses. They have to look at a big area to find any walruses.

It is hard because some things look like walruses, but are not.

It is a challenge because walruses are hidden, and we have to search for them.

The project needs more people to help count the walruses.

The future of walruses is not certain. Their home is changing fast. But with satellite technology and public help, we will finally know how many walruses there are and how they will do in the future.
