Why Ho Chi Minh City is a Top Shopping Destination in 2026

Travel And Tour World (TTW) ranked Ho Chi Minh City 16th in its 2026 global shopping index, citing a vibrant scene that mixes traditional markets, designer boutiques and modern malls.

TTW hailed the city as offering "one of the most vibrant shopping scenes in Southeast Asia," emphasizing the seamless blend of old‑style markets, local designer shops and contemporary shopping centres.

The index highlighted Ben Thanh Market and other traditional local markets as favourite places for clothing and souvenirs, where visitors can enjoy authentic bargaining with local sellers.

The rankings consider many factors: shopping experience, luxury retail networks, iconic shopping streets, traditional markets, artisanal handicrafts, pricing, sustainable retail practices, shopping infrastructure, international brands and local products.

In the first eight months of 2026, Ho Chi Minh City welcomed over 43.2 million visitors, including 7.8 million international tourists, a 38.5 % rise from the same period a year earlier, underscoring the city’s growing appeal for shoppers.
